A new book and a new idea closely related to data mining : ROLE MINING IN BUSINESS, Taming Role-Based Access Control Administration.
The key idea behind Role Mining is to automate — to the extent possible — the role design task within an organization or an industry. In a business setting, roles are defined according to job competency, authority and responsibility. The ultimate intent of role mining is to achieve optimal security administration based on the role each individual plays within the organization. (See Role Mining definition).

 Εντελώς τυχαία, έπεσα πρόσφατα πάνω σε ένα άρθρο, με τίτλο που αμέσως μου δημιούργησε έντονο ενδιαφέρον: "On-line Poker and Data Mining"...
Διαβάζοντας το άρθρο , όπως και διάφορα άλλα σχετικά κείμενα που αναζήτησα στη συνέχεια, διαπίστωσα πως το εντυπωσιακό δεν είναι ότι κάτι τέτοιο συμβαίνει, αλλά πως η χρήση εργαλείων data mining, ή "hand grabbers" όπως τα αποκαλούν στον ολοένα και πιο δημοφιλή χώρο του on-line poker, έχει λάβει διαστάσεις επιδημίας!

[I was pleased to read that data mining has delivered spectacular results for the Insurance Fraud Bureau. Using Detica’s specialist services they were able to uncover gangs causing or faking car accidents, resulting in 74 arrests and a five-to-one return on investment, saving insurers at least £8 million.
